Equipment Tip: Bread Basics Silicone Sling

To begin I must disclose that Bread Basics sent me their Dutch Oven Silicone Bread Sling to try and review. However they have not paid me and my reviews and opinions of this product are my own and unbiased.

My sourdough journey began at the height of a global pandemic. Because of this I am very very cognizant of waste. I develop recipes for the sole purpose of using my discard instead of throwing it out. I hate waste in baking and I can’t think of anything that is wasted more in sourdough bakers kitchens, than parchment paper. I have used dozens and dozens of rolls of parchment paper in my baking. Because of the 500+ degree heat it is very difficult to use parchment paper more than once or twice. So it ends up in the trash sooner rather than later.

This problem is solved with Bread Basics Silicone Bread sling. They are perfectly tailored to fit in most dutch ovens available and they’re dishwasher safe. These silicone slings ultimate eliminate the waste of using parchment paper and it saves me time because I don’t have to do crafts (cutting away excess parchment paper) before I bake my bread. The long handles allow me to lower and remove the bread from my dutch ovens safely and a lot easier than with parchment paper. No more burnt knuckles and finger tips.

I cannot extol the benefits of this product enough. I am sure you have already seen scores of sourdough bakers on instagram using these slings already. If you are thinking about and are unsure, don’t hesitate. This sling is worth every penny and for $19.99 you will very quickly recoup your investment not having to buy parchment paper anymore
